Join us this week in The Tasting Room where you’ll meet a community of friendly, wine-loving folks who enjoy good wine and good company.
Join me this Thursday as I welcome Emily Rasmussen, co-founder of Desire Lines Wine Company.
One of the things I love about my job is when I come across a winery that is just killing it, and when I introduce it to others, they fall in love with the wines. It's the sense of discovery that is often missing in a wine world that is dominated by mass-produced, formulaic wines.
Desire Lines Wine Co is not mass-produced. It's not formulaic either. According to the Desire Lines website, "Desire Lines are ....the natural course of evolution, of user experience over design, a cumulative creation of collective intelligence. Desire lines are unofficial routes, formed over time as the people traversing a space reject the designated paths in favor of a path all their own." Desire lines tell you where people want to walk, rather than where they’re expected (or prescribed) to walk.
That is a perfect name for this wine label. The wines produced by Emily and her husband (and winemaker) Cody Rasmussen, are superb. Each wine reflects where it comes from. They aren't made from a recipe or formula. They have heart. They have passion. They represent all that is good in the wine world. You can taste it in the glass - the care, effort, and passion they put into their wines.
Emily will be here Thursday night only, but you can join me both nights as I'll be pouring Desire Lines wines both Thursday and Friday. But do not miss meeting and talking to Emily, she has a fascinating story to tell, and her wines are on a path all their own!
